7 Reasons speakers chose their idea

 1. Actually, it chose me

My methods and belief in them led me to realize that what I was doing had a secondary and possibly more important ‘bigger picture’ benefit. - Nicholas Palumbo, 2012 Speaker

2. Challenge the audience to dream big

My belief is that many people have given up on their Extreme Dreams. The purpose of my presentation was to share the story of my dashed, dead, and buried dream, and then challenge the TEDx audience to - Dream Big! Believe Bigger! And turn their I'mPOSSIBLE into their I'm POSSIBLE!!! - Edwin Ettinghausen, 2015 Speaker

3. Empower the next-gen

I feel strongly about helping our next generation succeed. - Denis Nurmela, 2015 Speaker

4. Entertain others

I've always felt that I was an entertainer. I wanted to share my ideas and my skills with other people. - David Cruz, 2016 Speaker

5. Create opportunities for joy

I am passionate about acting Shakespeare and sharing that love of Shakespeare's works with others. TEDx Temecula gave me the opportunity to this in a very effective way. - Rob Crisell, 2016 Speaker

6. Spread the benefits of humor

It has been scientifically proven that humor makes people happier, healthier, live longer, learn faster, be more creative, and have better relationships. Laughter is the best Medicine. - Karen Robertson, 2012 Speaker

7. Share unknown benefits of moment on a child’s development

I have been in this practice for years and have seen dramatic changes in children's lives. However, it is not information that is widely known. - Mary Mollway, 2016 Speaker

Why the world needs you to celebrate your rhythm | Dionne Thomas | TEDxTemecula
When you allow yourself to move through the world courageously unguarded, in the full expression of who you truly are, the world responds positively. Dionne Thomas knows that dancing in public is an easy way to fast-track your way to that self-acceptance. She shares why rediscovering how to move in your own rhythm is not just good for you, but good for society.

Dionne Thomas turned her lifelong love of dance into a career after a sleepless night in 2008 lead her to a Zumba® infomercial. Having previously used exercise as medicine, she immediately fell in love with the program and wanted to share it. Now, as an avid dance fitness instructor of various formats, her passion is to guide people to love themselves and move confidently through the world.

After leading thousands of people in dance, Thomas realized dance is our natural instinct. Through public dance experiences, we give ourselves permission and freedom to be who we truly are. She encourages us to awaken our inner dancer and discover how our lives and communities can be transformed.

Light Pollution | John Garrett | TEDxTemecula
John Garrett uses his skills as a graphic artist and photographer and his wry sense of humor to teach local schoolchildren and community groups about astronomy. As vice president of the Temecula Valley Astronomers, he gives presentations in Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, and Menifee. His topics range from atmospheric optics to light pollution, climate, common observing, archeoastronomy, and exoplanets. A regular presenter at the Julian Starfest, John appreciates the Temecula Valley's proximity to the Palomar Observatory and works with the International Dark-Sky Association to help keep our traditionally rural skies dark enough for star gazing.

If you can have the nighttime lighting you need for safety and security, and can still see the stars, would you take both? We can have a dark sky and a well lit ground by fixing design flaws that make many lights a nuisance, a glare hazard, and a waste of energy.
